During weekdays: medicine consult resident will cover DRH/Harper/Psych consults. We used to co-manage Dr. Little and Dr. Darwich patients’, they are choosing to consult a different service since they moved to HUH, this might change, so if they call you for a consult please make sure they place the consult to us and not to another service before seeing the patient). They have been consulting Sakar and paging us with the consult.
Neuro ICU transfers: treat as STAT consults. IF the patient has no neurological issues and no acute ICU issues then the patient can be transferred to the floor. If no acute medical issues and awaiting dispo/placement, please page 5755 (UPG hospitalist pager) and transfer the patient to their service, if the patient has acute medical issues then transfer to MED A, if MED A is capped, then transfer to UPG hospitalist service.
3Q consults: we write consults/full H&Ps for all new psych patients, even if they don’t have any medical problems. Please call 3Q every morning and ask if there are any new pts to be seen, you can also check their consult book which will have the new consults. You need to sign the consult book once you see the psych patients.
Starting the first weekend of June, 2017 we will be covering RIM consults on weekends/holidays and when Dr. Cretu is on vacation. Dr. Cretu will contact you with a sign-out and which patient to be seen over the weekend. You are also expected to be available to the RIM physician for any question regarding any patient Dr. Cretu is following. Please check with Dr. Cretu each if he needs any help with the service. Once residents are starting to see patients at Vibra (date to be determined), the vibra resident will be helping Dr. Cretu to see patients during the week as well.
Days off: should be one day off a week. Interns should be supervised by the seniors, seniors are responsible for seeing all the intern patients as well and staff with intern prior to staffing with the attending. the ER/IM resident is the intern’s back up when the senior is off (if we have only one senior on service)
Attending coverage: This will be updated by Dr. Hazem. Dr. Hazem will decide about weekend attending coverage and will be updating the CMR who will forward the list to you. Feel free to contact Dr. Hazem if you are unable to get in touch with the CMR for some reason.
