Detroit Medical Center Facilities
DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan has more than 40 clinical specialties and is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Surgical services include general, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and cardiovascular. Imaging technology designed especially for children provides advanced diagnostic services such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Trauma Center dedicated exclusively to children. Experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, neonatal and perinatal medicine provide care for thousands of children every year.
DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, Michigan’s first Level I Trauma Center has played a pioneer role in the evolution of emergency medicine. Receiving hosts one of the busiest and most well-equipped emergency departments anywhere. The oldest and largest verified burn center in the state is at Receiving, and is one of only 43 in the country. Receiving also boasts the state’s leading 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, Metro Detroit’s first certified primary stroke center, and the nationally recognized Rosa Parks Geriatric Center. Detroit Receiving offers expertise in emergency medicine, complex trauma, critical care, orthopedics, neurosciences, nephrology, pulmonology, diabetes, geriatrics and urology. Detroit Receiving is also home to a Center of Excellence for disaster preparedness that has been the model for regional, state, national and federal agencies.
DMC Harper University Hospital has distinguished itself in surgery and medicine and is known for its clinical expertise, innovative research and advanced education. A specialty referral hospital, Harper has established Centers of Excellence in neurosciences, bariatric surgery, vascular services, multidisciplinary cardiovascular services, hypertension, stroke prevention and heart failure. Harper is home to the revolutionary Cardio Team One, the new standard of excellence in heart care.
DMC Heart Hospital, is a completely new structure is the home to DMC Cardiovascular Institute, as well Cardio Team One. As Michigan’s first and only heart hospital, DMC Heart Hospital changes the way cardiac care is delivered. Unlike other hospitals and institutions, DMC Heart Hospital is a unique collaboration of specialists. Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons and Vascular Surgeons all work together, in a single place with a single goal: To provide extraordinary, immediate care to patients suffering from all forms of heart disease and vascular disease.
DMC Heart Hospital, right here, in the heart of Detroit, the city we’ve served for a century and a half. In 1863, DMC was here, providing care to the new heart of industrial America. A century later, the world’s first mechanical heart was built, tested and launched here. And in 2014, the new DMC Heart Hospital opened a new era, dedicated to keeping the heart of Detroit as strong as ever.
DMC Hutzel Women’s Hospital is nationally recognized for cutting-edge research in high-risk obstetrics, infertility, reproductive genetics, neonatology, maternal fetal medicine, midwifery, gynecology, urogynecology, menopause, permanent birth control and alternatives to hysterectomy. With a rich history of over 143 years as Michigan’s first and only hospital for women, the patients benefit from Hutzel’s commitment to research and education. Home to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Perinatology Research Branch (PRB), Hutzel is recognized as a leader in women’s health by physicians and researchers across the country.
DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is one of the nation’s largest hospitals specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research. RIM is known for its clinical expertise in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputee, orthopedics and catastrophic injury care. The Institute is home to many innovative programs, including the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery and the Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), one of only 16 Centers of Excellence in the U.S. for brain injury research and care. RIM also operates more than 30 outpatient sites throughout southeast Michigan specializing in sports medicine and orthopedics.
DMC Cardiovascular Institute, launched in 2009, the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) is a world-class heart and vascular treatment center dedicated to clinical care and research in all areas related to the health of the heart and the circulatory system. Headquartered at the DMC’s award-winning DMC Harper University Hospital – now ranked among the “Best Hospitals” in America for Heart Care and Heart Surgery by U.S.News & World Report – CVI provides the most comprehensive cardiovascular services and treatments now available in Michigan.
In Partnership: The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center provides patients throughout Michigan and beyond with comprehensive cancer care certified by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and backed by state-of-the-science cancer research.
DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital. As a full-service community hospital located in northwest Detroit, Sinai-Grace offers a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace also operates more than 25 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties. Sinai-Grace is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians.
DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, in Oakland County, is committed to providing outstanding customer service and remarkable medical care. This hospital features the Harris Birthing Center with all private birthing suites, the Charach Cancer Treatment Center (affiliated with the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center), cardiac services, and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient diagnostic care. For emergency, obstetrics and ambulatory surgery, Huron Valley-Sinai consistently ranks among the top hospitals in the nation.
In Partnership: Kresge Eye Institute is known internationally for its contributions to ophthalmology and houses the Ligon Research Center of Vision. Kresge has clinical specialties in glaucoma, cataract surgery, cornea transplantation, retinal, vitreal and macular diseases, plastic and cosmetic eye surgery, diabetic-related eye conditions, neuro-related eye disorders and ocular prosthetics.
