      It is important to recognize biases so that we can provide better quality care and reduce disparities in healthcare. It has been shown in multiple studies, that health care providers have high level of implicit bias against different race groups, SES, ages etc, whether that be prescribing different therapies or even the amount of health education provided to patients. If there’s a patient in the clinic which has been deemed to be “non-compliant” against the recommendations at the last visit, we may develop a bias against these patients and not look at the whole picture to the underlying reason for them not following prior recommendations. Overall, it is vital for us to be aware our own bias so that each patient receives equal care.
